Singer 401A

Got her for 20.00 last weekend at a flea market. Brought her home, cleaned and oiled her and she purrs.

Awsome for you both! Every machine needs love and an owner :)

Really great find!!!

They had two just alike but the other one was missing the bobbin cover. They were both in cabinets but I didn't need or have room for a cabinet. They were asking 35 each so I talked him into selling one out of the cabinet for 20.

I am jealous! No, I am really happy for you, what a great deal!

Awesome. Enjoy sewing.

Usually when I find one for less than $50 it has the selection knobs gummed up a bit.

Congratulations! You are going to LOVE her! I've had mine for 33 years now...we're best buds!

Lucky you! I paid a lot more for mine a few years ago. This is a great machine, but not all that intuitive. Do you have the manual?

carolynjo 02-08-2013 09:38 AM

Congratulations! I have had mine for 55 years and use her every day; only 1 trip to the hospital in all that time.

Bought mine new in 1958 and she still sews everything as good now as when I bought her. I am happy you found her and know you will get a lot of use from her.

Cricket, I don't have a hard copy, I downloaded one from the net.

That will work just fine. It isn't always clear, without the manual, what you should do on this machine if you aren't used to it.
