I purchased this little beauty, thinking it wouldn't be such a challenge, but humbly seeking any ideas as to how to fit this 3-part machine lever back on correctly . Please help ! Thanks

I did that on my first 401, it's the same mechanism. Took ages to work it out but it was just a matter of trying every different combination. Easy if you have a 401 or someone who's willing to photograph theirs.

Just spent 10 minutes trying to find reassembly instructions or diagrams but came up with nothing. If nobody else has theirs handy I'll pull my 411g from the shed and photograph whilst pulling it apart.

I had mine apart before and spent a good deal of time putting it back - it is totally trial and error - lots of trial.

I don't know how to attach the link so hope this takes you there. tandtrepair.com/schematicspage.html has a lot of free info on the touch and sew machines. No charge, he just suggests donations if his site helps. In that schematic, you will see that the small plate goes on first with the cupped legs pointing up. Then turn the next piece with the cupped ends pointing down and carefully slip it over the lever by slightly turning it until it can be squared up and lined up with the screw holes. Next is the cover. It may take a few attempts because I kept knocking the smaller piece out of alignment.

I thought he was working on the 604 and that I was replying to that. Did I reply to the wrong post?

crocee 09-28-2014 05:45 PM

404 just means the link doesn't exist.
I think you tried to post the right link but for some reason it didn't work. The one I posted is, I think, the same one but its in .pdf form.
The 600 is just the series and contains the 604. Hopefully this makes sense.

It does, thank you. I had slant 404 on my mind. Went back and clicked that link in my message and it said link was broken, but asked if I wanted a different page. I clicked on what was offered and went to it. So much to try and keep straight.
