Singer 66-16
I just picked up a Singer 66-16 machine from a 70 year old gal who said it was her mothers. She said it hasn't been oiled for over 40 years. It looks pretty good other than the hinge to the cabinet keeps coming out of the machine. Is there a fix or does anyone know why this is happening?? The machine runs so quiet I don't think I've ever heard one run quite that quiet., but until I get it cleaned and oiled I'll have to wait with using it. Thanks for your help

There should be a screw on the machine where the hinge pin inserts that you tighten down to keep it in place.

I'll look for it tomorrow, I'm too tired tonight. Thanks

66's are really nice machines. I've got so many ..... well, I like 'em.

Maybe someone tried to take the machine out of the cabinet and didn't know how.

The hinge pins are also often loose at the head end. Single screw there too. |
What Mark said. Very easy fix as long as the screw is still there. I like 66s too. My main machine was a 66 for quite a while.

The 66-16 has a nice large area inside the throat - bigger than a redeye
