Singer 66 - Double Trouble

I emailed a random local CL post on Friday about a machine. They emailed back this morning, it was in a cabinet, cabinet is in poor shape, machine is inside. All need work, things missing, blah blah. Free, come get it. Yes, ma'am. I don't ask twice. Can I be there in 30 minutes? Sure, I might be out, it's in the garage. Do you know the brand? It's a Singer.
Super, I get there. Cabinet is in the driveway with a note that says, sewing machine, free. Great. No one answers the door, I write thank you on the note and leave it in the door. Take machine. Come home. Eyeball machine quickly enough to note, cabinet in crap shape, SECRET COMPARTMENT!! (nothing but thread), wiring mouse eaten, machine... it's a 66 without a slide plate. I bet it's in there somewhere. But we were leaving for Columbus. I grabbed the serial number and went about my day. I'll get pictures tomorrow, right? Machine dated serial number AC568958.. March 1929. Sweet.

I've been sitting here, fiddling on the internet all night. I get an email from shopgoodwill that I won an auction. Low and behold the serial number is AC574316 from the same allotment of March 1929.

:shock::shock: I mean, the odds are ever in my favor, right?

You could always rig them up side-by-side on a bench and run belts to them both from a master shaft, like were in the old factories. Left foot and left hand to control the left one, right foot and right hand to control the right one, get lots of sewing done in a short time. Double efficiency....and double the fun!
