To restore the shellac on your machines, go to post #32974 (my page 3298) in the vintage machine thread and read Glenn's directions. You'll need to read forward from there as questions are answered. A few pictures are being posted as people work on their machines. Miriam had some today. Glenn also has a tutorial on restoring the cabinets - I think the methods are rather similar.

I'm going to wait till someone condenses all these posts into a cohesive tutorial all in one place. I can't keep track of where this or that or the other is. Way too confusing for this old man.

I swear by Peek metal polish, made in England, by appointment to HM Queen. If it's good enough for her cutlery it's good enough for my machines. I can get it in the local shops, but you can get it online at www.tri-peek.com A tube lasts for ages. I'm still on the same tube after cleaning at least ten machines Just don't get it on the decals - strictly for the metal only.
