Singer 99K 1955

I have been keeping the blinders on but... while helping a friend move we came across her moms 1955 Singer 99K.
The carry box is trashed but did it's job and sacrificed itself to save this machine. It was kept unused for decades and despite going through many attempts to toss it out sentimental reasons prevaled and there it sat.
This time it wasnt making the move so I adopted it.
After cleaning, oiling and a few adjustments....well, Now I know why they call them "Singers". This machine truly sings as it sews.
I am very impressed. Sewed my leather glove with ease.

They're great little machines, and nice that you have back tacking aka reverse.

Wow, beautiful machine. I just missed a 99k that looked like it was in pristine condition at an estate sale last weekend. Person bought it only a few minutes or before I spotted it. I was pretty bummed. Love my both my vintage Singers and wouldn't have minded another. Even had a spot picked out for it :P.

That is a beautiful machine! It would have followed me home too. Some machines are irresistible.

I'm so glad you rescued that great little machine. How sad it is when machines that are working or could be easily fixed are thrown away. I currently have 2 99k hand cranks and am so fond of them.

Nice little machines. They don't have the glamour quotient of a Featherweight, but are sturdy, solid machines that can sew just about anything.
