Not an antique at all. It's a 40s vintage Singer 66-16 in a common cabinet. I'll bet the seller thinks it's worth a whole lot more than it really is. Joe

That's the reason for the whole http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...g-t174801.html thread.

it's vintage but not antique and not rare.

Not far from me, but I don't like the bidding game he plays. I prefer a ball park price to work from, not waste my time.

I just bought a nearly identical one, a 1948 model 66-16 for $20 complete with the same cabinet and the matching stool. I love the machine but it looks to me like this guy thinks he's going to get rich off it. That and I really hate the $1 bait and switch price ads. If you like the machine wait a couple months and call him then chances are it will still be for sale or more likely you will find 10 other machines you like as well or better for far less money.

My experience has been that when ever a seller says " I know what they are worth" they don't have a clue and think theirs is worth way, way more than they ever sell for.

I'd personally hold out for a newer 15 with reverse. This has the back tack - but it's not a true reverse.

Rodney - the stool is worth more than the cabinet and machine combined LOL!!

Does it have the "potted motor"? I know someone up there who might dicker with the guy for it if it does. I can't tell by looking at his pictures.

It doesn't have the potted motor - you can see the external motor poking out from behind the pillar, under the arm.
