Singer Featherweight Machine from Goodwill-Florida
I thought I had posted this earlier, but I think I must have accidentally deleted the post before I posted!
Oh, dear! Several months ago, my son was in the local (North Central Florida) Goodwill store. While perusing for any old electronic/audio equipment, he found a Singer Featherweight Machine. The machine has no cabinet, but it is in absolutely immaculate condition. He paid $50.00 and I think he really got a good deal! Your comments please! Thank you. Jeanette Frantz |
He got a GREAT deal. I would have picked it up for $50.

By "no cabinet" do you mean "no case"? At any rate, a FW in nice condition is a STEAL at $50!! Congrats! :)

You brought him up right!

Yes, I do mean "no case". I can't believe how good a condition this thing is in. If it hadn't been, my son would never have bought it. Since he worked as a sewing machine mechanic for 14 years, he has a great deal more knowledge of the machines than I. I can operate them -- pretty doggone well, but I am NOT a mechanic (that's a really valuable skill!)

Wow--that is a great find. Kudo's to your son.

I am a central FL quilter and I looked and looked at goodwill for machines. It's very competitive there so he did very well! I passed up a Japanese singer clone(salmon pink) in a cabinet with all original accessories because I did't want to pay the asking price (before I knew values). I often think of that missed opportunity.

I will post a picture! For something so small, she's a real beauty.

Sounds like you are close to me. I never see any Featherweights around here. Nice find.
