Singer Featherweight Tension?

My FW was sewing just fine. Then it just started having all kinds of tension problemS. I took the bobbin case out and everything looks fine.I tightened the case a little. But it's still just a mess underneath the bottom. I'm talking lots of tangled up thread. What else could it be?

What did you do last? Did you change thread? Change the needle? Clean the machine? Retrace your steps. It is unlikely to be needing the tension adjusted.

That's just it, I walked away to grab a bite to eat, and it was. Started back up and it was a mess. Not a clue what happened.

Usually that would be some kind of user mistake.

Thread tangles on the bottom usually mean something isn't right with the upper tension. Unthread the top and make sure the thread is between the tension disks, and set the tension dial on 3. And change the needle.

Good Luck!

I would also look for some weeny piece of thread in your bobbin mechanism. It's amazing what mess some teeny, tiny little piece of errant thread can create.

At the risk of getting my hand slapped again, this should cover a lot of what you're trying to troubleshoot:

part 2 is relevant if part 1 doesn't help. ;)

Note to any mods: I'm not selling anything on my site, there are no opt-ins and per the rules there's a link back to the QB.

Tammi - that is very well done
