I have one of these and it works great!

Amazing, you all are so innovative, I never would have thought of these things but wow they sure work great!

I found another pic of my widget. Not trying to push it but just thought I'd show it.

When I ran two cone threads through the coiled spring they went in separately, but came out twisted. Works pretty good and looks kind of like a variegated thread.

I'm going to use this double thread set up when I quilt the quilt I'm piecing together now.

A small to medium binder clip clipped on the thread spool works for me. Use the cone stand and run the thread through the binder "handles."

That binder clip type looks the best and seems like it would work great! A lot less expensive than a $22 gadget.

I like your set up with the binder clip. I have mine running through a cut off piece of plastic straw scotch taped to my FW. Your idea eliminates the scotch tape. Thanks.

I think someone here on the board suggested wrapping the thread around the crook at the top of the thread holder (like a loop) and that's what I did. Works great - makes a slight tension on the thread and my FW likes it.

For the people who don't want an extra hanging off their machine (I personally don't care, I might try the binder clip or the spool with eyelet, but for travelling machines it might be inconvenient) there's a spool pin you can get that has a thread hole drilled into it for exactly this purpose.

Sites I've seen online show it as being for the 222, so it should work for the 221 as well.

Part number 12403, the prices I've seen online are a little steep. Cdn cost on the pin is under $1, so paying $4 is a little out of line, so if you do look for one, check a few places.

Tammi,

Sew-Classic has those. They're $1.39 USD, { http://www.shop.sew-classic.com/Spoo...oles-52239.htm }

Yup, I have a bunch of them, but I bought them for my 15's and other types. I think they're too large for the FW's though.

Great ideas!
