Singer Featherweight, white, in my area. Is it worth the price?

I could drive out to see this machine. It's not that far away.

From just looking at the post, do you think it's worth the price?

Of course, I've always imagined "my" Featherweight would be black...and what I really want is a potted-motor 201 (to give to my niece!).

I do not have a white FW. Mine are black and all in great condition so would not be tempted by a white one for that price. They are more rare - fewer were made. Also, many people on QB have written they don't sew as well as the black ones. But I am not speaking from experience only repeating what I have read. If you are tempted, grab some fabric and go check it out. If it does not perform the way you think it should do not buy it. It is cute - so only you can decide if it is worth it.

For my area that's not a bad price for a white one.

If it sews well, the case isn't musty, the wires look good and everything is there I would be tempted.

They are rare here- go for about $400 if in good condition with case and manual. I have a couple, and find they are easier for me to sew on. The glare off the black ones is too much for me if I sew more than an hour or two.

Is way, way too rich for my blood but if it fits in your budget and you want it, go for it. But definitely test drive before handing over the $$!

I almost bought a white one when they were not so valuable. Wish I did. Since the white ones are rarer, they now cost MORE. Sorry.

I've only seen 2 black ones in my area. No white ones.

I have a white FW, and it sews beautifully. I haven't seen another white one in this area (North Central Florida), but my son bought mine for me for $50 at Goodwill Store. Of course, there was no case and no attachments. But, since I'm the one who's going to use it and I have short-shank attachments, it's not an issue. My son also bought my 403A for me at Goodwill Store for $41. I also have a 201 Potted Motor, a Singer 328-K, and a National Two-Spool Treadle Machine, a couple of Singer 750 Golden Touch 'N Sews, a Singer 1425, and a Baby-Lock Serger. There are a couple of more, but I'm actually NOT a collector! LOL!

Go for it! I was visiting with her last week. She even brought it to Fargo or me but I could not get there in her time period. That is what they are selling for on eBay. I guess I am just to cheap. I am hoping all FW lovers will get their white one and then the price drops. In my dreams?
