Is there such a thing as a green Singer small machine? I didn't take a picture. The other I found was a Singer JG 638873 with the gold decals, 1871 , for 180.00 , will post pics. a little later. Singer Red Eye for 105.00 in cabinet 1920. Also does anybody know anything about Franklin Treadles?

I have a 185 and it's definitely green. I paid $15.00 for it.

The one being advertised as a 1871 is being mis-advertised if that's the serial number.
no letters, all numbers = Prior to 1900
1 letter, the rest numbers = 1900 - 1924 (some 1925)
2 letters = 1924 and newer.

ETA: Another dead give away, even if it was a treadled machine- the machine will have a motor mount after about 1910ish

I love the color! I bought a red eye in great condition for $30. If you like the prices go for it!

Very pretty. Sounds small and mighty.

I bought my 185 green machine at a garage sale for $20. It works fine, but is too heavy to transport conveniently, so it recently found a home in an apartment complex for homeless vets.

It is a 3/4 size machine, and I understand it that it is basically a Singer 99 in an "updated" style.
