Is there such a thing as a green Singer small machine? I didn't take a picture. The other I found was a Singer JG 638873 with the gold decals, 1871 , for 180.00 , will post pics. a little later. Singer Red Eye for 105.00 in cabinet 1920. Also does anybody know anything about Franklin Treadles?

The one we have and the others I've seen in person are plastic. I've seen photos of one with a metal spool peg.

I have a 185 and it's definitely green. I paid $15.00 for it.

no letters, all numbers = Prior to 1900 1 letter, the rest numbers = 1900 - 1924 (some 1925) 2 letters = 1924 and newer. ETA: Another dead give away, even if it was a treadled machine- the machine will have a motor mount after about 1910ish |
I love the color! I bought a red eye in great condition for $30. If you like the prices go for it!

Very pretty. Sounds small and mighty.

I bought my 185 green machine at a garage sale for $20. It works fine, but is too heavy to transport conveniently, so it recently found a home in an apartment complex for homeless vets.
It is a 3/4 size machine, and I understand it that it is basically a Singer 99 in an "updated" style. |
