Singer made 1932
 

I am cleaning up a mchine that my son rescued from a lady who was taking it to the curb. The international sewing machine collectors webpage listed the number of AD443078 as being 80 years old and model number or class number as 99. Do any of you have this machine? I need to find a manual to either print or order. Will it thread somewhat like my Featherweight machines?

I have 2 Singer 99s.

Singer #AD443078 is a Mdl 99, one of 5,000 allotted 1-6-32.

The Singer 99s needle fits flat to the right and threads left to right, just the opposite of the Featherweights.

The Singer 99 is almost identical to the 66s except it's a 3/4 size machine rather than a full sized one.

SHE SEWS! I got her going this afternoon. Mostly figured out some features by trial and error.
I do need a manual so will check out the website. One of the coolest things is the foot control. It is metal and like the sole of a shoe. I really like it because your foot locks in. So, what size needle do I need.

Joe- I've been doing some checking and one website says that since the 99 is 3/4 size of the 66 it is not found in a cabinet. Mine is in a cabinet.............just curious.
With everyone's advise I have downloaded the manual and ordered bobbins/1/4' foot and felts.

The 99 is a cute little machine! Got 'Baby' off of ebay, don't think anyone really used her. I did pick up a donor machine when I found a cabinet for her. Not sure what to do with that one. I think I used the Singer universal needles when I got her running.

It amazes me what some people consider trash. I'm glad that your DS rescued your machine.
I have a hand crank 1932 Singer 99K. Lovely machine to sew with, the step-grand daughters loved to sew doll quilts with my machine. The 99 takes a standard 15x1 needle, found in JoAnn's and lots of other places. I mostly use Schmetz brand needles. For quilting fabric a #80/12 sharp or microtex needle.

purplefiend-Was your 99K in a cabinet? I read somewhere that they were usually in a portable case and since they are 3/4 the size of a 66 they likely wouldn't fit in a standing cabinet. Mine is in a cabinet.
