Singer model 13 Twins!!!

Ok, kinda long story.....

I spotted a local ad for an old singer treadle.
It looked like a Model 12 on a small treadle table with an oversized coffin lid.

Having a Singer 13 of my own, I dared to hope it was a 13 in it's original treadle.
But the coffin lid looks like a 12 style.

But for $100 and a 1.5 hour each way drive... Might be worth the chance.

Unfortunately, I did not have the resources and would not until Friday. I contacted the seller but they were not willing to "hold" it for me, but said to call Friday to see if it was still there.

Not wanting this to go to someone who would not appreciate it, and knowing that he is looking for machines, I sent a text to new QB collector Vmaniqui telling him that he better get this quick....

When I showed the pictures to Heather she asked me if I was nuts! She said "Let's go get that one, I can shift a payment till Friday" (why we are getting married in may......:o)

So I sent another text to Vmaniqui who had...
1) already made contact with the vendor
2) encountered some "resistance" from the family about this.

He was gracious enough to pass the torch back to me and called the seller himself to let the deal pass to me.

We drove up last night and picked it up. I was stunned at how "nice but rough" it was, but I was sure it was a 12 still. I looked up the Serial # on the spot and was please to see it was 1881. The 12/13 series "New Family" machines were introduced in 1880 (as I understand it) making this new one a 2nd year of production model... too cool.

Once I got it home and compared it it turned out to BE a 13!!
