Just bought this machine yesterday. It works great. Very quiet and smooth. All I can find on it is that it was made between 1930 and 1935. It only has forward stitch and the wooden case. I would like to find a manual on it. Can anyone help with more info. It was a one owner machine and I know the lady that owned it. She took very good care of it. There was a little metal stand that came with it but I am not sure if it is original. Thanks.

The serial number for your machine was issued Sept. 5, 1935 itis Model #15. You can download a free manual from Singer at http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals/search.

Model 15's are a very highly sought after machines and yours looks to be in outstanding condition. Enjoy!!!

Thank you all! It is very well maintained. No rust and works great. Very quiet too which i thought it would be noisy as it is old. Very heavy machine so i won't be moving it much. LOL. My first buy of this kind and only 25.00. Think I got a great machine at a good price.

kenZ, thank you. I downloaded the manual. the only thing i can see that is missing is the cloth guide. There wasn't any different presser feet either except the one on the machine but I don't know if it would have come with any extras. The woman that owned this was 100 years old when she died and left it to her daughter. The daughter didn't want it and put it in garage sale.

Just to keep things straight - it is not a 15-91, it's a 15-30. It's the "one version" earlier than the 15-88 to 15-91 series.
it has the old style bobbin wider, it does not have reverse This is one of the early 15-91's http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps02e29064.jpg This is also 15-91 - the 15-90 is the same except for the potted motor. (88 and 89 are handcrank and treadle versions) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psb574c2e6.jpg This is a 15-30 http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps1a82c5a0.jpg This is an earlier 15-30 http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps66f483f2.jpg and one more 15-30 http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psd8008a25.jpg BTW - what you have is way more collectable than the average 15-91 |
Weird. I didn't think the wings decal came on anything other than the 115... perhaps that's just an incomplete list on the ismacs domestic decals site? That last one isn't a rotary bobbin?
