Singer number confusion
 

I acquired a Singer in a cabinet, serial #EE380455. Ismacs list says it is a "15K" from 1947. But it has a potted motor. I thought only 15-91's had those, mine does. Can somebody educate me? First time here, need to do my profile. OSMG for sure.

The K indicates it was made in Kilbowie, Scotland which I don't think precludes it from being a 15-91.

Welcome. The K just indicates that it was made in Kilbowie. For the most part the numbers after the K or the "-" (hyphen) would be for the same machine that are just made in different places. There is at least one difference that I know of, it is that the 15K30 is not like the 15-30. A decent explanation can be found at https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/class_numbers Consequently, you do have a 15K91 if it has a potted motor. There are a couple of manuals that will work. The second one includes some other machines as well.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

Pictures tomorrow. Thanks everyone - my confusion came from going directly to the serial number database and looking for the "EE" prefix. In that database they only listed it as "15K" with no further explanation or details. I believe it must be a 15-91. Wally

Wally, it is a 15K91 as it was made in Kilbowie. It is not a 15-91, which would have been made in Elizabethport, nor is it a 15K-91 as I have seen it referred to, as there is only one digit or character between the class and variety of the machine.
