Singer parts shopping

I'm trying to find most of what I need for my 2 machines in one spot to save on shipping. Any recommendations? Suggestions for parts I might need? I was going to have dh do this for me, but after cleaning my first machine I'm hooked. This is my project and I am determined to do it myself. I can do this. (I am soooo not mechanically inclined. At all. This is a leap for me, lol.)

Parts needed
15-91:
spool pin spring (did they have these?)
cord rewiring kit
spool felt
darning/quilting foot
bobbin winder tire

Featherweight:
Felt pad
Foot adapter to use my brother feet or 1/4" piecing foot
Brushes
spare belt (black?)
rubber feet
rubber feet for pedal
cord rewiring kit

Bobbins
Marked plates for each?
singer motor lube
gear lube
carnauba wax

Am I missing something? Both machines are in great condition. The singer 15-91 hasn't been used in 20 years so it's pretty dry. I got a nice wad of lint out of the feed dogs and cleaned up to a sparkle. I plan to try out FMQ with her. I don't know the history of the featherweight but she looks well cared for and is very clean. I want it for piecing.

Eta: looks like I can get everything but the oil pan felt from sew classic. Is that a good place to buy?

Send her a PM... :) I've gotten a few things from her now, and she's reliable, fast, and just generally a really nice person!

In my search for a zig zag attatchment, I rad across this:
TandTrepair.com
they seem to have a lot of parts etc. NO zig zag attatchments tho.
Good luck

I recomend Sew-Classic.com. I am pretty sure she has everything on your list. She ships real fast, has great prices and is a pleasure to to deal with.

I highly recommend Sew-Classic. Jenny (the woman who runs it) is knowledgeable and responsive via e-mail for those times when you're not certain exactly what you need. As for the carnauba wax, you can pick that up on Amazon or at any auto parts store. Also note that on your list, "singer motor lube" and "gear lube" are the same item.

Another thing on your list Jenny might not stock is the felt oil pad for a Featherweight. I ordered mine from a sewing supply company in Florida, and swiftly came to regret it--I'm guessing that particular company sells your name and address to direct-mailers, because after ordering from them, I suddenly began to receive a lot of sewing-related junk mail and catalogs I did not request.

Who is Cathy and is there a link to her site?

misskira 04-23-2012 07:26 AM

Thank you for clarifying the motor/gear lube issue. I've been wondering about that. I emailed and Jenny responded that she does have the felt pad and will list it on her site today. She has everything I need so I will order from her I suppose. Free shipping is always a nice incentive.
