Singer Spartan For $25
3 Attachment(s)
I saw this listed on CL for $40. The lady said she would sell it for $25 as she was getting married and it needed to be gone. I think it is the cutest little machine but I didn't know the Spartan came in a cabinet. Now, my question is this. Is this an original Singer Cabinet for the Spartan or has this one been made for this machine by someone who owned it previously. It sews beautifully and looks so nice in this cabinet, albeit the cabinet needs a little work.

It looks like an original to me. I have a very similarly finished Kenmore cabinet. Fake Limed Oak from the 50s.

Lucky you - hard to find cabinet - great machine

It's an original cabinet for a Spartan or a 99. You better grab it!! Those small cabinets are hard to find!! And I mean HARD to FIND!!!

Yes, original Singer cabinet. I have one in a darker finish with a 99. I think these were the cabinets for those on a budget, not very ornate and pretty basic. :) Three-quarter machines in cabinets must have been bigger sellers around here since I've seen more in a cabinet than as portables over the past year. Cute little things!

Congratulations on a good purchase. Even with refinishing the cabinet you got a good deal.

I second this!!! The cabinet, alone, is worth more than $25.00 since is will fit other 3/4 sized machines, too. Did you end up getting it?

I bought a spartan for about the same price with a portable case. I have a Singer about the same vintage. Other than being heavy they are great machines to sew on. I leave one or the other up all the time. I have gotten so that I use my vintage machines more than the newer ones. I think it must be the durability of them. I never seem to need to adjust the tension or anything else. Just add oil as needed. They don't even seem to gather fuzz like the newer ones.I thnik you did GOOD!
