Singer stylist 6548

I was at the Goodwill today and for 9.00 I bought a Singer Stylist 6548 the pedal is missing but it did come in a really nice cabinet so to me the cabinet alone is worth 9.00 although I do not believe this is the original cabinet because it was bolted in and made a really tight fit so yeah the cabinet does have a hole in it now but thats okay the rest of it is beautiful. The machine looks to be in excellent shape. I wish I could get some pictures on here but I will need my hubbys help with that. Would anyone be able to tell me without looking what yearthis machine could be or where I might find a working foot pedal the cord has three prongs that fit into the machine any help would be much appreciated. Also is there a site I could find a manual for 1950ish Singer featherweight. I cant wait to get the hang of this picture thing I would love to share all my vintage babies.

Before you spend money on a foot control, you should open up the machine and make sure there are no broken or cracked gears. And make sure the machine turns easily and correctly buy using the handwheel. I would imagine a google search will get you a source, but you can always haunt ebay for a used one.

thanks i think everything looks good but I am going to take it to a sewing machine shop the sticker on it says Moores sewing center and I know exactly where it that is I shop there all the time but the funny thing is they do not sell anything Singer just Janome and a few others so at one time I guess they did sell Singers Im excited to see what they have to tell me when I take it in. I cant seem to find alot of info on the internet about this machine a few pictures and expensive manuals but I think it may be a 1979 model and if so I will be happy being that is the year I was born and to have a machine of that year would be pretty cool
