Singer Stylist model 413

A friend left this sewing machine to me. Had a repairman make some adjustments and said that is all it needed. Got it home thread it and put a bobbin in and now seam looks great on top, but the bottom thread is a mess - HELP

grab some practice fabric, remove the spool of thread, remove the bobbin, then thread it all over again. Sounds like it needs some adjustment to the tension. Make sure the thread is in the tension discs on top and that it is not at too low a number for tension.

Be sure to hold both threads as you begin to sew. The presser foot should be down when you adjust the tension.

It is possible that it is the tension but there are other things that can act like that... Tami had a real nice thread about it a while back.
