Dorian, it looks like a nice Red Eye but the cabinet is kind of plain. More than I'd pay for it, though not tremendously more if everything really looks that nice in person.

I paid $50 for mine in a parlour cabinet too. I think that might be a bit too high, for me anyway

The price would be the top end to pay. It depends on if you really want it and if it will be your first one. Even though the cabinet is plain it appears to be in good shape, perhaps refinished. I actually like the plain cabinet, sort of a shaker style. It does have the attachments and manual which is a plus.

I'm with Caroline - since it has the manual and the attachments you are ahead of the game. For my part of the world it is a very good price. I would try it out to be sure it works and sews well.

This seems like a decent price for you and a fair price for the seller. The bonus is that it is all there and in good shape. Sometimes a bargain machine ends up costing you a lot more by the time you repair and replace the missing or broken parts.

I'd try to look at it, sew with it a little, and offer a little less first. If it is in great condition, sews, and has lots of extra stuff...... go for it.
Having said all this..... it's a little too high priced for me at this point. I'd think about it if I didn't already have a treadle. |
It looks to be in really good shape, except for being missing the belt. That's an easy fix. It has lots of attachments and the manual, so that's a plus. More people are hanging on to their old machines around here, so overall, I'd say go for it, if it really looks this good.

The seller is being difficult. He's 2 hours away from me. I'm willing to drive half way, but I need to be sure it works ok before I buy it. He says he doesn't want to drive to meet me if I don't say I want it for sure. I don't like being pressured.

It depends on where you are. Some cost several hundred and others very reasonable depending on the market. A friend of mine told me ... after the fact... that she took 2 to the dump because noone would buy them!!!! Despite this grievous error, she is still my friend HOWEVER she will NEVER take another machine to the dump without having me check it out and then I will opt to give it to our KEY store as a client may be able to tinker with it or they may find a person willing to repair it.
