That was fun to see. You read my mind. I've been wondering what our parents & grandparents paid for those machines when they were new. Any idea what the FW machines sold for when new?

one of those adds made my mother buy her first Singer, after my father bought me a floor model Signature, Montgomery Ward machine. would still be using it if it hadn't burned in a house fire, it was a work horse. good memories.

Thanks for sharing this link!!...I have the same exact Singer 99 model shown in the first link in the very same cabinet shown here. Paid $40.00 at a flea market, has the centennial badge on it, needed loads of cleaning and a new hinge since one of the original was busted. Fixed it all up, but I'm still not happy with the tension adjuster, but I don't use it all that much, so mostly I use it to sew with another machine on the top of the cabinet. But I smile a lot looking at it. The decals are the best on any of the vintage machines I have. Was nice to see the ad.

I bought a used FW in 1959 for the princely sum of $95.00....and my DH almost choked! Wish I had it today...even tho I have one I still miss the first one...sigh...:)

My 1936 FW had the original purchase papers with it. It was $112.00 and the payments were$3.00 a week. They were also given $10.00 for a trade in, but it doesn't say what model was traded in.
