If the belt is too tight it will run slow, move the motor up a bit, the belt should only be tight enough to run the machine without slipping. To adjust it loosen the big screw that is to the right of the motor as you are looking at the machine from the front. Sharon W. |

Mine sewed slow and it turned out it was made in England and needed the correct voltage converter to sew faster. Perhaps this is the cause .

Thank you this has given me several ideas to investigate. My son is supposed to change power cord but had to go OOT , so as soon as he is back, hopefully he will helpmeet check out some suggestions. I do appreciate each of you taking the time to read and respond.

Do you have a new belt? Have you adjusted it lately?

I know the site you read this on. The site is often recommended here. It's NOT true. It CAN hurt people if they do this instead of fixing an electrical problem. http://www.archaicarcane.com/love-be...ewing-machine/ ETA: Raine - The most common by far reason for a FW to run too slowly is that the belt is too tight. It should be incredibly loose. So loose that it ma even rest on the guard when the machine isn't running. You should be able to take the belt between 2 fingers - hold it steady, and turn the handwheel with the other hand and make it "slip". That's how loose. Try that and then let us know how the machine is running. |
