SMAD strikes again!
 

Just as I was getting everything sorted out and ready to send off . . .

I'm cruisuing "newly listed" on ebay to see if there are any new treasurs - and what do I find? An assortment of 1890-1900 era White attachments with neat immiagtion hemsticher foot, but they really wanted too much (Buy it now for $35). Then I look at the other pictures -OMG there is a single thread embroidery attachment laying there!!

Clicked the "buy in now" button in a heart beat - this one is for the round presser foot bar (typically top clamping), I already have one that is side clamping, that has the Singer name on it.

Now the wait until it shows up - and the hope that it's all there and working. And even if it's not, it's still neat, and the other stuff was almost enough to tempt me before I saw that one.

I've got a couple of really good "scores" the last few days - finding a couple of very hard to find attachments to complete a few of my early "pre Greist" sets.

Now I just have to get working on the stack of items that I don't want to keep. I went through the assorted bigger stuff, and my "rehome" stack is about as big as my "keep" stack.

I sent my husband the link - he didn't get all that excited either.

It's that funny looking larger item near the bottom right.

I know, right? Macybaby you have a wealth of knowledge on these attachments!! When I started looking into vintage machines I didn't find much info on the the attachments, do you have any specific go to resources that you might share??

Gretchen, most of it is from searching and reading -

I've learned a lot by reading old online sewing machine manuals and sewing instruction books put out by the manufacturer. They are all over the place - Needlebar has some, Ismacs has some, and I've bought a lot of them too. I've always found bits and pieces and the fun part is starting to put them together and see the pattern that emergize.

Like this particular foot. I got it with a machine and looked up the part number. I've since learned that there is an older back clamp and V2 version, but this is the very first time I've come across anythink about there being a back clamp version.

The items came in the mail yesterday.

Got the part oiled up and it works fine, though I've not got this machine cleaned up and adjusted, so I'm not going to actually try to do any sewing with it.

The clearances are very close with this part - so I don't think it would work on anything but the White. But I'm fine letting it be part of my New Queen's clothing. When I get my old White Rotary, I'll see if it will fit that too.

The patent date is Mar 27, 1888.

This is another neat foot in that set - for an imitation hemstitched seam.

I've got several of these of the later design that fits to the top clamp. This one would be earlier and it fits on the bar (BTW - the Queen came with the typical top clamp arrangement).

It has several patent dates on it

Are you thinking about maybe doing some videos showing these old attachments in action? I think it would be pretty cool to see them working. The function isn't always easy for me to see.

Don't know if I can do videos as I don't think I own equipment that will do it. Though my phone may as it's one of those "smarter than me" ones.

The unit twists the embroidery thread so it makes like a coil around the stitching,
