So Excited!

I just received my first Featherweight 221! (Did I say "first"? LOL!) I am so excited. I bought it on ebay and it seems to be in pretty good shape. It actually sews a pretty seam. I need to clean it and plan to watch the video on here for info. The case is nearly perfect. No keys, but I really don't think I need to lock it.

Unfortunately, that's all I got...the machine and case. No instruction book or extra feet or anything else. I may have some questions for all of you experts if I can't find what I need to know on the internet.

The amazing thing is that this machine was "born" the same month and year I was born. (Or very close) I can't wait to get it cleaned and sewing, but first, I just had to share my excitement!

Yay! So happy for you. These machines are so wonderful. I am sure you will love yours. You can find a copy of the manual for free if you google. There are several sites that have them, eg. ISMACS.

Congrats on your featherweight. You will find that these little machines are mighty workhorses. I use mine all the time!! You will love it!

My mom has had a Singer FW since she got it for her graduation from college present from her parents in 1948. Her vision is not real good and the old manual has very small print and half of it is missing... A couple years ago for Christmas I printed out a manual for her. She just kept holding it and looking at it. Anyway here is a link. http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals Just scroll down to where it says search. Put 221 in the box in front of search and then hit search! Then you will see a page with some options. You can buy a copy for $15 or you can print out a free copy. Way cool!

Very happy for you. And accessories are not show stoppers. Just a few feet will do the trick. Have fun!

Agreed. I never use any of the other feet that came with mine. But I sure do love it for piecing. Just hums along. Have you named her yet?

Wow, the same birth month and year! I would love that! Sounds like you got a winner. Enjoy bonding with your new "baby"!

Congrats!! Like so many others, I love mine. I have 4 .... will probably get more if they come available for a good price. I use them almost exclusively for piecing. And, I've done some FMQ and walking foot quilting for small items.

I have found attachments in various places.... often unexpected so don't worry about that. They tend to pop up. I did buy a 1/4" foot and a walking foot that I use often.

I can't wait to see your FWs coming out party...... make sure and post a photo for us all to oogle over!!
