I bet she got free arm and long arm mixed up...

Just be glad she didn't actually buy it for you, thinking it was a long arm! Most estate sales are final and you would (I would, anyway) have felt obligated to pay her back.

Nice friend for thinking of you, tho...

She did mean 'free arm'. She had never seen my quilting machine without the extension table, so did not know it was also a free arm. The one she sent me to see, was unusual in the the extension table was a textured green metal, and heavy with a hinge that made the extension about two and a half feet wide with rounded edges. I have never seen a metal one before.

My sister and her SOSE (significant other spousal equivalent) and DH usually send me a text msg w/attached photo and the address. I always tell them get good fairly close photos. Don't forget the price.

Sorry to chuckle but it is funny to me. I can just picture you showing up looking for the longarm and thinking you missed out . Then to have a little school model there instead? She meant well. Gotta love folks that look out for us no matter if they're clueless!

I get weak-kneed at the prospect of adding yet another machine to the herd, so I'm really glad I don't have enablers actively looking. However, I think it's a real sign of friendship that someone would see a machine for sale and think of me, hoping their find would surprise and delight me. That cannot be purchased at any price.

All of the extension tables I've seen from the '50s have been metal. That green extension table was actually the case unfolded.

Yeah that would be the "case" with the Elna Supermatics or a 'Hopper. :)
