Started out looking for a bobbin case tension spring, wound up with...a dilemna
 

another vintage National Rotary, badged as a Stag Electric for the Joseph Horne Department Store of Pittsburgh. I have a Damascus Grand Rotary which is very similar, and really needs a new bobbin tension spring. It was hard to resist because it had the manual (which I needed anyway), correct attachments (which I needed anyway), and well you get the idea.

And this beautiful lift cabinet which the seller says is for pickup only!! Darn Drat. I really wanted it, so I messaged him, is it possible to disassemble and ship it. He replied that the legs don't remove like Singers. Does anyone have experience with a cabinet like this, to know if it can be disassembled?
Or maybe there's some way to ship it as it is? What about amtrak or Greyhound (that would be fitting)

I was so, so tempted to bid on that one. Had to really sit on my hands as it's beautiful!

If the legs can be removed, it's easy to ship. I've bought and had shipped a few very hard to find cabinets that I needed for my collection.

This one is a bit different in that the door looks like it hinges right to the leg - have the seller take a picture of the underside of the cabinet, and you'll either see a lot of brackets and screws- or glue joints.

I just messaged him to see if he would take the pic, and also if Amtrak is nearby, they'll take 3X3X3 up to 50 lbs. Not sure what the cost would be, but he wouldn't have to containerize it as well.

A search of Amtrak routes shows several stations within 20 miles. Here's hoping...

I don't buy the older machines, but that one looks so awesome, it might have swayed me.

Well that's an awesome looking machine. Never saw one like that before. I don't mention it to anyone if I'm looking at, bidding on a machine online until it's a done deal & in my possession. I am not one of those lucky people to have the great machines land in my lap for free. I've paid local market prices for every great collectible I've accumulated, and so far have not regretted any of my purchases. Sure enjoy seeing all the great variety of beautiful machines are out there for the getting!

Well, I've also learned not to refer to any good deals up for on line auction, until after they're over, which is ironic, since I rekindled the "just for giggles" thread. The seller and I are checking with Amtrak tomorrow, but UPS would actually handle the cabinet in a box if needs be. Amtrak will go 30x30x30 and 50 lbs. Don't know if the cost is reasonable yet. The top of the cabinet will need repairs.
