sterling sewing machine delux

I bought a sterling sewing machine, it looks like a black singer with gold , I need information on it how to thread it the tension is sorta on the back, and which way the flat side of the needle goes. thank you bignan 1935

Here's a link to a threaded Sterling. It might help, if your eyes are good. http://stagecoachroadsewing.com/sterling.html Looks like it threads left to right, so the needle would have the flat side to the right.

I have two more questions about my sterling sereal # K5110321 How do you drop the feed dogs as there is no lever on frount of bed like on the video I watched also can't let down the pressure thing on top, any help I would love .The machine looks new.

Can you shoot a pic?

bignan 1935 03-13-2015 04:11 PM

I don't know how but when someone comes to visit I will have them thank you

To release the presser foot tension, push down on the outside, bigger part of the post. Then the center post should pop up. To re-tighten, just push the center post down again. ....unless it's gummed-up.

Your model may not have the feed dog drop. If you look underneath the machine, there would be a bullet shaped piece that can slide in and out of a metal tube -- if you are able to drop the feed dogs. If that bullet shaped piece isn't under there, the feed dogs can't drop.
