Taking photos of Vintage Machines???
I need some suggestion on how to take decent photos of my vintage sewing machines. Lighting is my biggest problem. Living here in western Washington presents problems because this time of the year it is rainy, gloomy and generally ugly. So I am forced to try to take pictures in the house. The camera I am currently is a Nikon Coolpix L110. Thanks in advance.

I don't know about your camera. but any extra lighting you can give your machine from above and sides to brighten the area around the machine the better you will like the pictures. If you need to, bring extra lamps from other rooms and place them ontop of tables and cabinets to illuminate the whole area. That's my $.02 worth.

Creating a light box effect around the machine could help. Hang (or get 3 people to hold) white sheets on 3 sides of the machine to get the light bouncing all around. If you get extra highlighting or glare spots on the machine, try arranging the extra lighting so that it's not focused directly on the machine, but rather on the sheets or maybe even from behind the sheets. No expert here, but maybe this can help.
