I have one token computerized machine. Just to show I'm not a total cast iron bigot ..... :) It works, sort of.

I've almost gone to my Featherweight entirely for piecing. The more I use it the more I love it.

I was thinking along the same lines with my piecing; then one day last week I got in the mood to use another machine and put my FW aside for a 301 for piecing a quilt I am working on for my GGD. That slant needle sure is nice, the 1/4" is good, the weight is great and doesn't walk so much on the table I am currently using. The only thing might be the weight--it is heavier than the FW if I should suddenly decide to pack it up to take out with me. I'll see.....

My mother was a skinny gal, 5'7" and maybe, just maybe 120 pounds soppin wet after a full meal. For as far back as I can remember she used a cast iron 15 clone and moved it wherever she wanted it. I can't remember her ever asking me to carry or move it for her.
After owning, using and moving that machine around for myself, I'm beginning to wonder just how in the heck she did it. That thing is HEAVY! Joe |
