Tip to clean out your vintage machines.....

We all know, don't we, that you should NOT use those compressed air things to clean inside our machines, right? While it might 'seem' like you are getting the fuzzies out with the compressed air all you are doing is pushing those fuzzies further back into the machine - not good!

Along with all your other tools to clean your machine, I just bought this mini-vacuum nozzle set to reach inside all those interior nooks and crannies: http://www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-micro-vacuum-attachment-kit-32994.html

I would post a picture but the link will work.

Here's an example of what happened to this machine when the owner 'cleaned' it using compressed air: http://bearhugquiltworks.blogspot.co...s-to-wise.html

I looked at the bearhugs blog site and I couldn't believe that canned air could do that!!! I have never used canned air because I was told not to and boy am I glad that I listened! Thanks Mom3 for sharing that with us!

Thanks Shari. Reminds me that my Elna needs to go in to the repair shop for servicing. I do clean everything I can get to when I finish a project. But I can only imagine what it looks like deep down inside where I can't get. It does make me appreciate my Vintage machines even more.

I have heard of this for awhile. I generally listen, but .......At least I am honest and admit it right. I will try to do better in the future---my machines depend upon me.
