So this happened and I texted the person and told them it wasn't worth $10 in its current state but I would take it off their hands. At worst, it'll be a parts machine. At best it'll be rehabbed and work. I'm picking it up tomorrow morning. The base is shot, as you can see and there appears to be no bentwood. We'll see how she does, maybe she just needs some TLC. Other than "singer" I know nothing about her yet. Can anyone help me with the model? My eye isn't trained enough quite yet.

trivia42,

It's an early 99. Looks to be missing the slide plate as usual, but otherwise fairly complete.

Here's a lightened and blown up pic.

Free is a good price for that machine. I'll bet it could be refurbed back to life fairly easy.

Free is always a great price in my book. Thanks for the model ID. I'll get better pics tomorrow and see if it even turns.

Check out Glenn's tutorial for restoring the finish on that one!

yes. definitely a 99K.

I would have gladly paid the $10.

trivia42 12-10-2013 06:58 PM

I might have paid the 10 but the ad implied they just didn't want it to go to a landfill so I figured I could use that as leverage. I have a standing "want" for old machines on freecycle too.

To me it looks like a 66...basically the same but larger, but we need measurements to be sure....or does Joe have another way to determine which it is???

miriam 12-11-2013 09:03 AM

This should be a 99 - it has a really long looking light and the motor sticks out - the best thing would be to see it in person

The 99 has a flat nose plate, the 66 is rounded. I vote for the 99. :)
