Todays haul from the goodie shop

Went to the goodie shop today and rooted through his boxes of old feet and attachments.

Here's a pic of all the goodies with my #1 Singer 66 Treadle:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/IMG_3729.jpg

Here's a close up of the regular feet:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/IMG_3731.jpg
I have: low shank, straight stitch: a slotted foot marked 121259 SIMANCO U.S.A, a cording or zipper foot (?) with a guide - the number on it is: 93-847600-00 no makers name, a fabric guide with a large thumbscrew - fits my 9W-7, and a high shank very large ZZ foot with a very wide, about 8mm needle slot, a steel case latch, and a slant shank snap on satin foot ( not shown-it's on the 401A ).

And here's a close up of what I think are back clamp Singer 66 feet and attachments:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/IMG_3730.jpg
I have a ruffler w/ SINGER on it, tucker, quilting foot with guide, straight stitch foot #32601, hemmer foot #28789, adjustable hemmer, and a binder. Can anyone confirm these are for a back clamp Singer 66?

Here's a pic of the slotted foot on my 66:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/IMG_3740.jpg
And a composite of four angles:

I have no idea what this Singer foot is for. It works really good though. Anybody know what it's for?

All in all a good haul.

Wow!! You made a haul.... and I'll be watching to see that that foot is for. I don't think I've ever seen one of those.

irishrose 05-16-2012 07:04 PM

Yes, Joe, the feet in question are just like my back clamp Redeye's feet. Yours are much shinier, though, and you have more of them than I do.

On your next trip, will you see if he has any bobbin cases from donor machines? I still need one for the 1978 MW. It has borrowed one from the 1950s Admiral, but it's not nice just to keep it. The Admiral is too pretty - it needs to be complete (when it gets a good foot pedal). Not going to worry about that until I take it apart.

Charlee 05-16-2012 07:34 PM

I agree...the backclamps are for a 66.
The last one is interesting, have not seen one before...it almost looks like part of a walking foot...

J Miller 05-16-2012 08:32 PM

irishrose,
Your MW should take a Class 15 bobbin case I think. If so then Sew-Classic has them. I've bought bobbin cases from her for a couple of our machines. They work good. They are actual Japanese made rather than Chinese.

irishrose and Charlee,
Thanks for ID'ing the 66 feet. Now I'm all set if I ever get one with the back clamp system.

Awesome!!!!

I think the slotted foot goes with the Singer faggoter (sp?). There are 3 pieces with this item--the bar where you can wind thread around some prongs, the foot that goes over the prongs (which I think you have), and a sliding thing on the bar to help get the thread off the prongs. It is used to make decorative lace-type things for clothing, etc. The foot is one thing that seems to be missing most from the pieces I see on Ebay. Go to www.april1930s.com and the manual section to see what the faggoter looks like. They are very expensive on Ebay--I've seen one they were asking $325 for but it was the complete set.

I don't know what the intended purpose of the foot is but I think it would work dandy for sewing over the welts on blue jeans.

Annaquilts 05-17-2012 10:10 AM

That is what I was thinking. Kind of like a walking foot. It looks like a pair of welded together skis.

Linda - K.,

Thanks, that is exactly what that foot is. I printed the manual and will keep my eyes for the rest of the pieces.

Joe, I found your "odd" foot. It's part of a pinking attachment. From a Worthpoint ad:

Vintage Singer Sewing Pinking Assembly Estate sale find. This was all together.. Was used on a Singer 201. Great shape. crinkle finish rare and in great shape.Includes all pieces in photo.Includes Clamp with green felt lining.# on inside of Pinking Body is:121259. # on armature is 121111Pinking blade guard #120994The clamp number is 121316Sealed ball bearing wheel

Charlee,

A foot for the pinker attachment, hmmm. OK, I think I might know where to find a picture. I'll go search it out and see.

Thanks,
Joe

miriam 05-17-2012 03:48 PM

Joe, I wonder why the hole where it attaches is so big?

J Miller 05-17-2012 04:02 PM

Charlee,

I went to April 1930.com and looked up their Pinkers. No foot with them. The machine drives the tool by mounting to the presser foot shaft while the machine drives it.

Miriam,
I'm not sure at all. It does look like a Fagotting foot like previous poster said. The pics in the manual also on April 1930 matches to a T.

Joe

Charlee 05-17-2012 08:53 PM

I dunno Joe....just what I found on Worthpoint... I would have supposed that it was needed on whatever particular model of pinker it was to feed the fabric while the blade cut...

jljack 05-18-2012 09:25 AM

I agree with Linda K...that foot exactly matches the picture of the foot for the Fagotter on April1930s site. And look at that price!! Yowza!!!

Joe

is it to use for sewing buttons on with???

J Miller 05-18-2012 11:23 AM

Grace,

Go to Linda - K.'s post on the previous page. Follow her link to the Faggoting kit in April 1930. The .pdf shows pics of this foot and what it's used for.

A button foot is kind of stumpy with two toes on the outboard edges.

The camera flash brings out the colors. In person it's drab and worn. I started cleaning it before I knew how to clean these old machines and damaged much of the decals. Now I'm afraid to even try to clean them.
Besides to me the beauty is in how she sews. Nice, very nice. I've got electrics that can't sew as smooth as this old 66.
