Tool name

Does someone have a name or link for the tool to remove and or replace the clips on the Singer lights? It's some kind of plier but the name escapes me. I'm tired of pinching myself and spending way too much time on those clips and would like to buy a tool that would be able to spread the clips for me.

I THINK they're called snap ring (or retaining ring) pliers....

Great, thanks. I searched at Lowes and the cheapest set I could find was $52!!

Try O'Reily's or Auto Zone, they generally have lesser expensive automotive tools. But you'll need the kind with the flat edged spreaders. Not the ones for the kind of snap rings with the little holes.

Joe, we do have an O'Reily's in town so I'll check there. I haven't checked HD, but they tend to be on par with Lowes. Does Harbor Freight have them?. Hmmm off to google.

Thank you Joe! It's so awesome that we have people on here who can direct us to the right tools, manuals, etc. it sure saves a lot of time and heartache and $ too! :)

Does anyone have this set and is it a piece of junk? The price is right. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch...set-97406.html

I have them - they worked the one time I used them

The set I had similar to one in link but did not have the correct tips. I guess a tip could be modified but I use my pen knife for removal (dangerous) and stretch a little for installation. I take it your referring to the bakelite Singer lights from the 30's-50's.

Candace, you're taking all of the fun out of opening those lights up........
