tools for that pesky feed dog plate screw.

On many of my Singers and others, the back screw holding the feed dog cover is hard to reach.

I will often reach for my offset screwdriver or my Swiss Army knife with the big screwdriver blade half out. They are a bit awkward to use, but can get a grip when other options don't work..

I use the cut off skewer for moving stuck slides if I've already tried oil and wiggles.

I need a screw driver like that ;- )

Offset screwdrivers are available at any home improvement store. Maybe even Walmart. I bought one because DH complains when I used his.

I use one of my Brownell thin bits with out the handle. I ended up getting a brass hammer and punch set to help with stuck plates and things.

The silver rod is an aluminum punch that I use only if I am desparte after many other attmepts.

I wish them would manufacture them with a recessed lever/latch.

The brass doesn't seem to damage the metal.

Yes, brass and aluminum are both softer than steel. Good choices. Rubber or nylon hammers are useful too sometimes.
