Treadle belt question please

Looking to buy G8299557 Singer treadle machine. Needs a belt. Are those available? Could I replace it?? I need your expert advice please, thank you!!

yep they are available from a zillion websites and most local sewing machine shops.

You can replace it with an original leather belt and staple.
You can also replace it with aquarium silicon tubing and stitch it together. (weird but true)

By the way, that serial number shows as a Singer 127 ordered to be built Aug 5, 1920
here is a link to the manual for it.

As a temp solution, aquarium tubing, parachute cord, clothesline and nylon stockings have all been used at one point or another. ;-)

I use the leftover oxygen tubes from my mom. They work great also.

I read that people use leather bootlaces. I bought some yesterday for my standard treadle. Have not tried it yet. If it works will let everyone know. If not it will be back to the drawing board!

Actual treadle belts are about half that!
