I have been given two Singer treadle sewing machines in cabinets. One works fine. The other one is missing the needle clamp. I am trying to find out where to get one, but I don't understand how to tell what model mine is. It has a long spindle-type bobbin, and the number on the right hand side front of the machine is D544403. I can't find any other numbers on the machine. Any advice on how to proceed from here? Please help!

I had a book for mine but it got lost in the last move. It is fairly easy to maintain since most women had to do it themselves. Might want to try to find a manual.

Yes, I think a manual would be a good idea, if I knew the kind of machine I have. I see that people have mentioned various "names" or model numbers, such as 15. I don't have that information, and can't find numbers on mine, except on the front panel. I was hoping someone would be able to explain where to look on the machine, or where I could go to find out. Thanks for the input, though.
