Uh oh, light bulb problem

Made a boo-boo and picked my FW up incorrectly. Next thing I know there's a bulb (or part of one) in my hand, the rest in the socket.
Now, what do I do? I've attached a pic to show my dilemma. thanks, Renate |
First, unplug it! I have only tried this with a broken regular light bulb but I used my needle nose pliers but instead of trying to grasp anything, I put the points down into the socket inside the metal ring and opened them so they pressed against the metal ring sides. I then slowly turned the pliers (keeping them up against the sides) and was able to turn the bottom out of the light socket.

But first unplug it. Sorry this happened to you.

I have had this happen and got it out with needle nose pliers. Pink Pearl erasers have been used by others. Please replace this with a new LED bulb. They are encased in silicone, which is somewhat forgiving in the same situation and twice as bright. They are available on Ebay. The price is going down as they come into mass production. They are under $10. I changed all my machines over. Now these old eyes can see better.

Be sure you specify a bayonet base type, as there are others now. Best money I ever spent.

I use a sharpened wine cork. Just push the cork into the broken off bulb socket and twist and pop it out. Has always worked for me.

I don't know if this will help you, but if I break a regular household lightbulb, I cut a potato in half and use it to unscrew the lightbulb.

Yay! I got it out!!! Used the needle nosed pliers and it practically fell out. My pink pearl eraser was too big ��

I have found that the LED bulbs that I have give off less light as they age. Anyone else have this experience? |
