Update on Featherweight from Canada - not received

I wanted to thank all of you for your responses about the Featherweight I bought from Canada on eBay
(4/21/13).

I have never received the machine. Since the 45 day limit for filing a case was approaching, a case was opened Monday. The very next day the seller refunded my payment including shipping cost.

I wasn't aware of the 45 day time limit until one of you good people told me about it. Thanks again.

Now the search is on for another Featherweight. This time it will be bought locally or in the States. No more international orders for me.

Happy quilting!

Sorry to hear that you did not get your featherweight.
Try craigslist.

Thanks for the information about he 45 days. I had no idea about that either.

I'm so sorry about your machine not getting to you. I've heard of similar things happening over the years. I've never experienced it but at least you got your money back. There are still plenty of FWs out there and many can be found at reasonable prices. Once you get one I'm sure you'll fall in love with it. Good luck.

thanks for the update. If it had been shipped and held in customs a simple tracking check would have told them.
Happy searching, I always figure the hunt is part of the fun.

watch http://www.shopgoodwill.com/search/ There are a couple of GW's within driving distance for me, which support will call options...no postage expenses :)

So sorry to hear that, but don't give up on Ebay. I bought 2 nice Featherweights on Ebay (not out of the US though, I am kind of scared to risk my money on that sort of thing). You will find one!

Glad that you were refunded your money - hope the seller gets the featherweight back okay! Ditto about not giving up on Ebay - I bought my featherweight on Ebay also, and it was a great purchase.

Sorry that happened, but there are plenty out there. Keep Looking!

I'm so aged I remember COD. Could be a good idea to bring it back.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, my luck on eBay has been very good. I bought my daughter's wonderful Singer 401A from a great seller on eBay who turned out to be a QB member. :o And i found my beloved Singer 301 there too.
I did hit one doozy of a bad seller when I won an auction for a pristine Rocketeer at a low price. She actually tried to pass off a rusting mess of a Rocketeer with a different serial number as a substitute. She sent it wrapped in a very dirty, hairy bathmat and nothing else! When she refused to answer any communications, I opened a case and sent the folks at eBay comparison photos. eBay was terrific. They gave me an instant refund, including shipping costs both ways and then they went after the seller themselves. eBay has done a lot in recent years to make it safer for buyers.
Sorry you had such a disappointment...but keep up the search!

Thank you, quilting friends, for feeling my disappointment.

Two fellow Board members have contacted me about having FWs for sale. Now how sweet is that?

I appreciate hearing your experiences with eBay and CL. I know there is one somewhere for me and it will be special!
