Update on the Singer found by the newbie
 

Well I went back and got more pics of the machine and really looked it over. First of all it is in fact a 15-91. I also found out that the cabinet is a number 47 which is in very good shape, a few nicks here and there but mostly just covered in dirt. The machine itself is missing the foot pedal and doesnt have the electric cord to it. Once looking in the cabinet the motor boxes or whatever they are called are in there with the singer logo on them. Everything seems to work as it should as far as the gear and such just feels a little sluggish but I image that is probably gumming of the oil from sitting for so long. The bobbin case and all looks good. I did find the attachment in a box in the swing out door in the cabinet. The seller has agreed to drop the price to $25.00 for the machine and the cabinet together so I do believe I will own this beauty come morning. I just need to know if any of you think it can be fixed or should I just use it as a nice accessory for my sewing area. Here are some pics. Let me know what you think.

All I can say . . . I am so jealous!

if you were closer to GA, I'd ask if you would want to trade this machine for a fully serviced non-nickel one.

It needs a little TLC, but $25 is a fantastic price. You can get the power cord and foot pedal at sew-classic.com, or maybe eBay.

Cabinet machines usually have a knee controller under the right front corner. The lever your knee pushes against folds away from you so you might not see it.

Power cords are available from Sew-Classic and most LSMGs. Love those round plates my machine isn't that fancy.

And if I can fix my 15-91 in as bad a condition as it was, yours should be a piece of cake.

Miriam stating she has yet to use a 15 for parts speaks to its endurance. At $25 purchase price one can afford to buy a few parts if needed. Not only will you have a rare machine but also a very useable machine.

Sort of looks like something is peeking out of the right corner of the cabinet. Could indeed be the knee control.

I have never returned one of these to its former glory. Is there a website or someone here that can tell me how to clean it up especially all the old gunky oil that is in it. Thanks for any help you can give.
