Video (and discussion) request for muv ( and others)
Hello, just wanted to say what a fantastic job Muv has done on her tutorial " how to use" various vintage attachment video's and was wondering if there are plans for one on the Singer adjustable hemstitcher foot,
or if anyone here has used one and can help me understand and get mine to function as it is intended, the Flat Fel l seam feature of it ( listed in the older singer manuals) would be real handy for me. Tips tricks and encouragement appreciated. Thanks Dan |
Hello Dan,
I have often wondered about the adjustable hemmer. I think it was intended for use on household linens rather than on more lightweight fabrics. I seem to recollect reading an old book or manual where it was suggested that it is ideal for hemming tablecloths. Certainly with dress weight cotton poplins it is probably just as easy to iron the hem into place and start sewing - and use the underbraider if you want to make it pretty... Perhaps I should try it out So glad you enjoy the videos! |
I tend to so a lot od heavier fabrics, canvas and cordura, and I use a lot of flat fel seams. The Singer manual I have shows using it for this but the pictures are very poor and I don't seem to have much luck.
