Vintage Atlas Precision Machine?
Hi Everyone,
I was just at a local resale shop, where I bought a beautiful Atlas Precision sewing machine, circa 1957. I keep hearing that these particular machines are workhorses with consistent even stitches. And you can drop the feed dogs. The retro pink color is kind of cool too. There are very few chips in the paint and it came with the original pink pedal and the original case. So, here's the thing. Because the motor needs replacing, the owner of the resale shop sold me the machine for $10. I don't know anything about sewing machine repair, so I bought it, thinking the most I had to lose was ten bucks. Does anyone know anything about replacing a motor on one of these machines? It's 1.2 amps. Any other advice or information y'all might have on the Atlas Precision machines would be welcome too! Thanks! |
Motors and belts can be bought from Sew-Classic.com. Only issue is the color won't match.
It's a bout a 15 minute job to put a motor on. Not a big deal at all. Rodney |
If it is there, does the motor work at all? If not, it could just need new brushes, or something just as easy to fix.

same thread right ?
http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...e-t260234.html post a photo of it and how you found that it's a 1957. I'm hoping to date an other one. Just take the pink motor apart, clean, lube reinstall it you can search on here or google for details. I take it have never done that so your time doing it might be as long as 2 hours.. I'm sure there's u tube vids also |
I have a collection of vintage and the pink Atlas was on the top of my wish list.
