Vintage Jones sewing machine
 

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my gifted, antique, Jones electric sewing machine please.

I am struggling with the shuttles bobbin and how to thread needle.

I can't help you. However, I'm sure that a photo will help those who can offer assistance. I haven't heard of a Jones machine, which could mean it was made by someone else (or I just don't know anything about it). The people who are familiar with the machine will probably recognize it by sight if not by name.

When you add your photo, reduce the size to less than 2 mb. I usually just reduce mine to 96 dpi. Also, the button to load the photo is hidden under something else. Scroll all the way over to find it.

Jones became Brother. Look on their website.
I had a jones many years ago.
If you can find a number on your machine it will help us find more info for you.

Jones machines are British. Mine does not have a bobbin yet.

Here is an old Jones pdf manual. Most Jones shuttle machines use 16x1 and 128x1. Very little difference between the 2. Both have a round shank. The Jones medium use 15x1 which is flat shank.

The link Jon gave you was for a really old Jones hand crank. As noted in the gracesguide links the Jones Sewing machines were made in the late 1800s, but continued until acquired by Brother. Consequently, many models of sewing machines were made by Jones and later badged Jones.

Since you said it was electric, I'm guessing that your machine is a later machine. A picture would help. We like pictures. I don't know if this link will work, but I happened across https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Jones-Colle...05/bn_39939340 quite a variety of Jones sewing machines. I'm going to guess that the non-antique machines would take a 15x1 needle. It is possible that one of the old black hand cranks may have been converted to electric, like many machines were that would still take the old class of needles.
