I bought it not having any idea of the model or approximate age. I need to find a belt and a plate for bottom front. Pictures are as I bought it. Only cleaning so far has been of the serial # so I could find out what I had bought.
Turns out to be a 1951 99k Don't know or care if I got a good deal....I liked the look of the machine and the case

I've used a modification of http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...s-t109859.html to revive a few wooden cases and tables and very pleased with the results. However, I did it in the summer so I could do it outside, as it can be very odorous LOL.

Oh for anyone curious I found it on Letgo with an asking price of $31.50 and brought it home for $25

You got of for a bargain price for sure, though vintage machines go for anything from give away and up. I payed much more to get mine rewired, and that was before I found wiring scematics and tutorials on the web.

Except for the lamp, and speed controller, your 99K looks exactly like mine from 1934. When oiled and sorted out it's a nice running machine. Mine only get's noisy if I push it beyond it's limits (I tried to stitch through stiff leather, it did it, but was working noticebly harder). It's quite a tough machine, has no problems with hemming jeans, sheer silks to heavier fabrics with flawless result.

When you clean and oil you have to slide the bobbin cover completely off. Under there is a lever you lift slighly up and towards you; it releases the bobbin case. There's lots of oil points from top to bottom, under the face plate etc.

While you are cleaning in the bobbin area, don't yank out nd throw away the red piece of felt I the spring. It is an oil wick. and needs to have new lube.

Got a lot more to do on my new machine but while I had some things apart for cleaning I went ahead and rewired it last night and took motor apart and cleaned it up good. The wires all looked fine but just knowing they were almost 70 years old I decided to replace them.
I'm sure there are better ways to clean and restore the case but this product makes it look a lot better by just spraying on and wiping off

Great find! I am sure you will love it. My Aunt Mary bought one when they were brand new on the market and used it until the end of her life. My sister now has it. Nice machine it should not be to difficult, with everyone here to help, to restore it to mint condition.

Thanks, other than no belt it worked fine when I brought it home. Before I started the cleaning and overdue maintenance I threaded it up and ran a few stitches manually turning the balance wheel. I can hardly wait to fire it up after I get done with cleaning

I have a very new looking version 99 hand rank and
enjoy this 3/4 size machine. Has bent wood case too.
Think I still need a manual but I am away from it.
