Vintage White VS
Hello everyone, I'm pretty new here, but I'm trying to find some information about a White vibrating shuttle machine I bought a while back. I emailed Huscqavarna, who bought the White company back in the 50s, and they said they couldn't date it based on the machine number, but told me to add 5 years to the date of the latest patent date, and compare the flower on the face plate to others online. Doing the patent method it looks like my machine was made in roughly 1895.
Unfortunately the decal is terribly faded, and the decals don't match anything i find on the net. I took pictures of the machine, instruction book (hopefully this will help others) and the vibrating shuttle. They're posted here: https://graveyarddaisies.wordpress.c...achine-photos/ . I didn't want to bog down the forum with a lot of pictures. I'll be restoring it as best I can, so far everything seems to move well, it just needs some oil and deep cleaning, and the veneer needs some help. |
Very nice. Katie at [email protected] has the White records. Email the serial number which is on the slide with the patents and most likely she can put a date to it.

nice machine - I love the older style with the circle bobbin winder. 1895 is probably a close guess to the age, as that is one of the early models.

Thank you, I'll send her an email to see if she can let me know anything

Does anyone know if other versions of the vibrating shuttle can be used in a machine like this? Or do I just have to keep my eyes peeled for one specifically for the White machine?

The shuttle and bobbin are unique to White. You have the old style White shuttle in your pic which is worth using unless it is in bad shape.
