Walking foot attachment for my 320K
 

I am about to launch into a 220sq ft main sail kit from Sailrite using my 320K and have bought several walking foot attachments online in the hope it will help me through the heavy going of multiable layers of 7.5 once Dacron sailcloth ,when they arrive.

I will be using V-92 with 15x1 #18 and #20 needles.
I have also ordered a more powerful motor kit from China.

For better or worse , I am ready :shock:

Has anyone had any experience with these walking foot attachments on their vintage machines ?
Do they really work ??

No experience with vintage machine and WF.

I just finished some boat seat covers using one of their fabrics and the pre-made bias trim. The fabric was black and the trim was a tan one. These were keeping the sun off the regular seats when not in use. I used their # 69 thread in the top thread and for the bobbin. I also used polyester embroidery thread in the bobbin sometimes. My old New Home machine was quite cranky so I used the Dream and managed quite well with it. I'm not sure of the needle type/size. I had to try a few different ones to get the right combination.

Did you see the needle and thread size chart for the different fabrics they offer?

Yes , the chart indicates 18-20 size for that thread.

Are you using a modified bobbin case for sewing as you mentioned using 15-1 needles? The original needle is a bit shorter so using the 15-1 needles can cause damage to an unmodifed case especially in zig zag stitches.Typically people either modify the bobbin case or use an alternate bobbin case that allows a large enough opening to allow for the longer needle depth. Apparently you do not have to change the timing. I recently got a Singer 319w which is the flatbed version of your machine.

I sew on several vintage machines from time to time and several of them have walking feet. Yes, they do work although one was designed to go with a particular machine, other feet are generic and seem to work just fine.
