Want to build a base to hold your vintage machine?
 
I just came across this!!! My dh has been working on building my Singer 99 a base cabinet. Then I found this 5 hrs .later!! Check it out.

I'm kind of thinking it might not be toooo bad to make my own bentwood cases. I wonder if the smaller hinges that Singer used on their cases are available anywhere? [Edit: they're called barrel hinges and they show up on fleabay.)

Thank you so much for the link. Putting this one and Joe Miller's together you can't go wrong in building one yourself. I found some dresser drawers (small) on the road side and brought them home with the thought of making bases for some of my free standing machines. Now I have a better idea of what to do. Thanks again.

My husband built a new base for my 99 but he put little drawers in each end. He made the top of the base out of oak with an inlaid walnut pin stripe. The edges are walnut because he knew how much I liked it. I have pictures on my blog but I know I am not supposed to post links to it and I am not sure how to get the pictures from there to here.
