Watcha Doin?
Watcha doin?
I mentioned refurbishing my Singer 9W-7 treadle cabinet in this thread: { http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...e-t204377.html } Here is a couple pics after I was finished, but just before I took the light off. My wife and I agreed that although the light came on the machine, it just didn’t look right. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...etfinished.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...ished-open.jpg I finally came up with a rear belt guide to replace the broken one. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...rbeltguide.jpg A couple days ago I went out side to put it on the machine and was approached by Millie our 16 year old lady cat who asked me: "Watcha doin?" I had my camera in my hand and got this pic of her: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...hatchadoin.jpg So got busy and took the old broken guide off http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...nbeltguide.jpg and put the replacement guide on http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...wbeltguide.jpg I did some more polishing with Briwax polish and now this project is … finished. All I need for it is a set of attachments for the 9W-7 and it will be complete. Ahhhhh, it feels soooo good to be completely finished with the repairs on at least one project. Joe |
You wouldn't believe it was the same cabinet it looks so good! Congratulations on a beautiful job!
|
Fantastic job Joe! She is a beauty! Thanks for the pictures!

Wow, it really looks good!!
|
Millie the project manager is downright proud of you. She has been with you from the beginning of the project. I am proud of you also!
|
:D Millie has been with us since my wife rescued her in '98. She thinks we are her waitress, and butler. I guess we are too.
Joe |
Great job; you do very nice work. Good looking kitty too.
|
It looks sensational - well done and congratulations!! I hope I will be able to say the same about my 27-2 one of these days (stay tuned...)
And I LOVE Millie. Look at that face :D |
Beautiful job!
|
Wow it looks great you did wonders on it and love the Milly making sure it was gone right!
You said you removed the light on the front and I agree if just looks off on the front, did you place it on the back side of the machine? Or just going to leave it off? |
caroloto,
The machine didn't have a light originally. The one that was on it is an aftermarket clamp on, so we just took it off. Joe |
Thanks for the photos. I may be writing you a PM one day because I have to restore my grandparent's Singer treadle that my g-dad traded a rifle for in 1917. My daughter stored it improperly and it is rusted and in pitiful shape, plus the veneer has buckled on the top. I learned to sew on that machine and I want to restore it. Also the guide is broken on this one as well; no I take that back; it is missing; not broken.
|
Beautiful job, Joe. It must be something about your driveway, huh? I've never known a driveway to see so much sewing machine action before. ;-) You are right about the light. It does not look like it belongs there.

It is beautiful. Was any the tiny beaded trim missing on yours? I have a cabinet to redo and some of the trim is missing. Is it still available anywhere?
|
None of the trim was missing on this cabinet. Only the top was damaged.
I don't know if any of these decorative trims are available any more. If they are I've not found them yet. Joe |
Job well done! Best wishes to the cat.

Thanks. Sadly we lost Millie at the beginning of this year. She lived a long life, nearly 20 years, and we'll not forget her. Joe |

It may be available elsewhere as well. I'm not sure what size you need, hopefully it's close to the two they offer. Joe, Sorry about Millie. It always hurts to lose a pet. Rodney |
It looks wonderful. Enjoy it!
