Wax Challenged household
 

I've always thought it was me. If I can use a power polisher, I can get great results therefore the motorcycles, the truck and the trailer look shiny as can be. If I try to wax a sewing machine I get haze and murk and streaks and general unhappiness. Today, I asked DH to wax one of the machines instead of me, he got the same result.

So, it's the prep or the products or the application (i.e. my and DH's technique)

Anyone have any good tips? I try to follow the directions - apply light coat (according to BriWax's tub), wait for it to dry - I almost never see any waxes haze: Mother's Caranuba or Briwax or anything else I've ever used whether I leave it for a few minutes or 30 minutes. - then "buff to a shine".

It's more of a "buff to a whine" if I'm doing it... "what a waste of money", "my arm hurts", "she looks worse!", etc. ;)

I haven't made it anyplace to buy the wax but I would love to know.

I haven't used Bri-wax on a machine, only on furniture. I have used Mother's Carnuba tho. I pretty much wipe on and wipe off. It dries almost as fast as I am putting it on and it's rare that I even see the haze part. Maybe I am doing it wrong?

I have no idea if you're doing it wrong, Christy! If you are though, at least I'm in good company. :D

When I have had those results it is because I have applied too much wax...

You know Steve, that sort of makes sense. The power polisher would help combat a too much wax problem with sheer speed and revolutions... I will try with a little less and see if I can get a better shine.

Probably Canada Day (July 1) now. Should I try to strip what's there so I have a clean canvas to start with? Probably with Naptha? Is it really a polish til your arm falls off then continue with the other arm, or is that a symptom of too much wax too? This weekend with the trailer it was a polish til you get hit in the sternum with the polisher as it kicks back and knocks you off the step ladder, so I don't have a lot in me at the moment - so if I do need to put that sort of energy into it, it might be DH or a little later still in the week. It usually does look like most people are relatively "effortless" with it though.
