What is the age of this Singer machine
Hello all,
I found a Singer sewing machine with the serial number 0235842. There are no letters before it. How old is it and is it worth much? Thank you!! |
According to ISMACS.net, it was made in 1873.
There are people here who may be able to guesstimate the value. I'm not one of them. It depends on what kind of condition it's in, how rare it is and if it's a desirable model. As in all cases, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Post a photo of it. No one can help you without it. Your photo must be small to post. The site won't tell you it's too large, it just won't post it. I usually make my 96 pixels. bkay |
If the serial number is at the base of the pillar, it's very likely you have misread it. Older machines have the serial number in a different location.
A picture would be very helpful. If it is indeed a 1873 machine, it's likely a Singer 12. It wouldn't be a "high arm" machine. If you can't post a picture - which of these does your machine most closely resemble?
